The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has issued a recall of Emerade 300 and 500 microgram adrenaline auto-injector pens (AAIs).

This is because some Emerade AAIs might fail to work correctly and may not deliver a dose of adrenaline if they've been dropped, though this is very rare.

Make sure any Emerade AAIs held by pupils or your school are replaced as soon as possible. If a pupil suffers an anaphylactic shock and does not receive the correct dose of adrenaline in time, the consequences are potentially fatal.

Let parents and carers know about the recall

If their child carries the Emerade brand of AAI, they should immediately contact their GP to get 2 replacement pens of a different brand - either EpiPen or Jext.

Make sure pupils know how to use their replacements, as each brand works
