KeyDoc - risk assessment template for a school event DOC, 225.0 KB

Use and adapt our template risk assessment before a school event, so you can:

  • Identify possible hazards
  • Put in place appropriate control measures

We worked with our associate education experts, Jonathan Davis and Trevor Bailey, to create it.

PTA events

If your school's parent and teacher association (PTA) is holding an event, your headteacher should:

  • Confirm whether risk assessments are being completed
  • Provide the PTA chair with a risk assessment template and guidance if needed

For high-risk events (such as fireworks displays) your school or your PTA should contact your insurance provider to check if there are any relevant health and safety stipulations.

Insurers could challenge a claim where your PTA is unable to prove that a risk assessment has been undertaken and appropriate action taken to mitigate against any risks.
