You must carry out COSHH assessments
You must make "suitable and sufficient" assessments of the risks created by hazardous substances in your school. This is set out in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002 (amended in 2003 and 2004).
The regulations require employers to assess the risks of hazardous substances, prevent or control them, and provide staff with information and training about the risks and control measures.
Health and safety is the responsibility of your employer, but you will have day-to-day responsibility for carrying out and reviewing risk assessments.
