What you need to know before you start

Your pupils' needs

You can find these in their education, health and care (EHC) plans.

Map out the interventions that need to take place along with any extra social, emotional or physical needs.

Your school curriculum

Know what needs to be taught in each subject by the end of each half term. Work out how much teaching time needs to be allocated for you to cover this.

Can you meet your pupils' needs and teach everything included in your curriculum maps? If not, you will need to reconsider your curriculum maps.

Prioritise core subjects and any key social, emotional or physical needs that need to be met.
