Encourage families to speak in their home languages

Ask parents to try to speak more in their home language and less in English when their child is learning remotely  Reassure parents that pupils can still learn the curriculum content in their home language, even if they can't learn it in English (e.g. they could discuss a history topic with an older sibling and ask questions in Italian) Encourage parents to talk to their child about their home learning in their home language (e.g. “can you tell me about something you learnt today in Urdu?”) Use these leaflets for parents, which cover how to support home learning.
