You won't have time to teach every lesson pupils missed during school closure, so you'll need to make some tough decisions on what to recap and what to let go. Get advice from curriculum experts Mary Myatt and Tom Sherrington on how to prioritise key concepts, spot gaps in pupil knowledge, and run effective consolidation lessons.

Evaluate the curriculum content you've missed or taught remotely

With your subject leaders or heads of department, look back on what teachers would've covered in school while pupils were learning from home. To do this, look at your curriculum map(s), long-term plans and medium-term plans.

Do this even if you were teaching your curriculum remotely: with the best will in the world, pupils won't have had the same experience learning at home that they would in school. Expect all pupils to have some gaps in their knowledge, whatever your approach was.
