News briefing: Many pupils 'not ready' to start school, survey suggests
School leaders are worried about levels of 'school-readiness' among new pupils, a survey by The Key has found. A third of primary school leaders say more than half of pupils are below expected levels when they arrive. Many of those surveyed blamed pupils' poor social skills and delayed speech.
