Case study: primary school

Northamptonshire County Council has produced a report on innovative practice in using pupil premium funding. On pages 42-44, it sets out a case study on how Thorplands Academy, a primary school, used the funding to improve attendance of pupils eligible for pupil premium funding. The school's eligible proportion of pupils is 54.9%.

What was the problem?

The case study says that the school identified poor attendance as a barrier to learning among these pupils. It says:

The key issue was around the lack of value parents were placing on education and about their understanding of the impact of the links between success at primary level and eventual life chances.
