GDPR: updating parents
Download and adapt our template letter to update parents about the GDPR and the changes you’re making to prepare.
What do parents need to know?
GDPR-compliant privacy notice
As part of your preparation for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you will have been updating your privacy notices, including one for parents – use our model GDPR-compliant privacy notices for this if you haven't already.
Each time you collect personal data from parents you'll need to share your updated privacy notice with them, but you may also wish to let them know you've made changes in line with the GDPR and share it with them now. If you also have a separate privacy notice in child-friendly language, you could include this for parents to share with their child.
Do you need to seek consent?
If you're writing to parents about the GDPR, you may wish to take this opportunity to seek or re-seek consent using our template form where you need it.
Template letter to parents
Use this template letter to inform parents of the GDPR and the changes you’re making in line with the above points.
