Learn how Ofsted inspects 'behaviour and attitudes' under the Ofsted inspection framework. This judgement covers behaviour, attendance, exclusion and attitudes to learning.

The impact of COVID-19

Inspectors will be looking at attendance during the pandemic, in particular they'll:

  • Discuss attendance patterns with you to understand how the pandemic has specifically affected your school, and ask how, in the circumstances, your school ensured the best possible attendance for those pupils eligible to attend in person
  • Consider the specific context and the steps you've taken to ensure the best possible rates of attendance since your school opened to all pupils in March 2021

Attendance between March 2020 and March 2021 won't impact Ofsted's judgement of your school.

This is set out in paragraphs 25 and 26 of the School Inspection Handbook.
