The methodology set out below is how the DfE calculated primary progress measures in 2022/23 (the last time it was able to publish this data). We'll update this article if the methodology changes – select ‘save for later’ at the top of this article to be notified.
The DfE measures pupil progress in primary schools
Primary progress scores aim to capture the progress that pupils in your school make in reading, writing and maths from the end of KS1 to the end of primary school.
From the academic year 2027/28, primary progress measures will use the reception baseline assessment instead of the end of KS1 assessments, to capture the progress pupils make across the whole of their
