Use our template appraisal report to review teachers’ progress

It reflects the The Education (School Teachers’ Appraisal) (England) Regulations 2012 for maintained schools, which state that you must:

  • Review the performance of all teachers in your school for each appraisal period (usually every 12 months) - this applies to all school teachers, including those who are members of the senior leadership team (SLT)
  • Provide a written report to teachers for that appraisal period

The regulations don't apply to academies. If you're from an academy trust, you're free to determine your own appraisal arrangements. Check your appraisal policy to be sure you're following your trust's requirements for appraisal reports. It may specify a certain template to be used, or for certain items to be included.
