Prepare the task

You'll need to decide whether to:

  • Set up a slot on the interview day to allow them to teach part or all of a lesson, or
  • Visit the teacher's current school to observe a lesson (if their current school agrees to this)

Consider:

  • How many candidates you have - if you've got a larger pool, bringing candidates to teach at your own school may be the more efficient option, so you don't have to visit multiple schools
  • Whether the class would be significantly impacted by the disruption to their normal teaching routine. For example, if pupils:
    • Have fallen significantly behind due to lost learning during the coronavirus pandemic
    • Are close to sitting their exams
    • Have special educational needs, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), where they may find the change to teaching staff difficult to manage

Tailor this form to the skills you're looking to test for this
