It's good practice to advertise all vacancies 

There's no set requirements on whether you have to advertise a vacancy. However, it's good practice to do so. 

The School Staffing (England) Regulations 2009, which set out rules relating to appointing staff in maintained schools in England, do not apply to academies and free schools.

However, there are requirements around what you include in the job advert, which we outline below.
