Explain the new framework and report cards

Members of your school community may not be aware that the grades that Ofsted awards have changed, or what the new report card actually means.

This could make it trickier to communicate your results following an inspection.

From 10 November 2025, you’ll receive a report card containing your grade for each of the evaluation areas, as well as narrative explanations about why you’ve received those grades.

See the ‘new report cards’ section of our summary of the 2025 framework and watch Ofsted’s video about how the report cards will look, to get your own head around what your report will look like, first.

Send this letter out before you receive an inspection, so your school community is up
