This resource is based on the 2026 State-funded Schools Inspection Toolkit, and reflections from school leaders who have been inspected.

All staff should be prepared to answer questions about inclusion

Inspectors will meet with your SENCO and/or inclusion lead. Share these questions with them to help them feel prepared for inspection.

However, everyone should be prepared to talk about inclusion, especially your SLT.

Inclusion is a theme that runs through every evaluation area under the 2026 framework, so make sure your leadership team feels confident talking about:

  • How all pupils access relevant elements of school life
  • How your school makes sure its practice is inclusive
