Ofsted don't expect any specific type of monitoring records

Inspectors don't require you to present any specific format to show that you're monitoring curriculum and teaching provision.

However, they'll want to see evidence that you're taking a strategic approach, and that you:

  • Have an accurate and informed understanding of the quality of the curriculum
  • Can assure yourself that the curriculum is taught well
  • Identify areas for improvement and take effective action to tackle these

This is set out on pages 19 and 23 of the State-funded Schools Inspection Toolkit.

Showing evidence of monitoring will help you demonstrate that you're doing these things, as well as identify areas where you're not meeting the expected standard for curriculum and teaching.

Read the full details of these standards in our article on how Ofsted inspects curriculum and teaching.
