Sick pay during the coronavirus pandemic The government has lifted COVID-19 restrictions: From 24 February 2022 it's no longer a legal requirement for people to self-isolate if they have coronavirus. However, according to public health advice: You should still self-isolate if you have COVID-19 symptoms or test positive If you live with someone who has COVID-19, you should work from home if you can and limit close contact with people outside your household From 24 March 2022, COVID-19 provisions within statutory sick pay (SSP) will end. This means that staff will no longer receive SSP if they test positive or self-isolate, unless they are unwell. However, they may still be entitled to occupational sick pay (see more below) If a teacher feels well and can work from homeIf they're working from home because they have COVID-19, or live with someone who's tested positive, the employer must give them full pay.
