You must carry out these checks
As part of pre-employment checks for staff employed by your school, you must verify a person's right to work in the UK (including EU nationals).
This is set out in paragraph 231 of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2022.
COVID-19: temporary process adjustment extended to 30 September 2022
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the way you carry out right to work checks has changed. You can accept digital, scanned copies of documents and use video calls as part of the process until 30 September 2022.

How to carry out the checks
You can either:
- Check the applicant's original documents manually – see a list of acceptable documents in section 7 (Annex A) of the government's employer's guide to right to work checks
