Use progression grids to assess pupils’ progress

The National Curriculum sets out what should be taught in each year group or phase in maths.

Progression grids offer a breakdown of the key content and targets.

You don't have to make them, but they can:

  • Help you and your teachers understand what progress looks like for pupils
  • Provide a benchmark for what you should expect to see when scrutinising each year group or phase
