How to handle requests from parents/carers to see RSHE materials

You should share all RSHE materials with parents/carers, if they ask

From September 2026, you should make sure parents/carers are able to "view all curriculum materials used to teach RSHE on request". 

This is set out in paragraph 56 of the updated statutory relationships education, relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education guidance, which you must follow from 1 September 2026.

You can begin implementing the new guidance sooner if you wish, or you can continue to follow the current guidance until then (the second document on the linked page, labelled 'for teaching until 31 August 2026').

Do we need to tell parents/carers they have the right to request all materials? Your RSE policy should "set out how parents can view curriculum materials" (paragraph 14 of the updated RSHE guidance, linked above). The guidance doesn't explicitly state whether this refers
