Use pupil voice to understand what your pupils need
Pupils know the most about their own mental wellbeing. Hearing from them will help you:
- Support them as individuals
- Improve your whole-school culture of positive pupil mental health
Asking pupils how they feel and what you can do to help promotes positive mental health in itself, and gives pupils a sense of purpose and agency.
Don't rely on pupil voice surveys to pick up on mental health concerns
Make sure pupils always know who to talk to when they're feeling low, whether that's their form tutor or your designated mental health lead.
