Understand your requirements
The government has strengthened its guidance on mobile phones, and all schools are expected to be phone-free "by default" (as this is non-statutory guidance, it's not yet a legal requirement). See our article on managing mobile phones for how to make your school a phone-free environment.
Even though pupils won’t be using phones in school, they’re still potentially exposed to harmful online content outside of school.
You should make sure all pupils are taught how to keep themselves and others safe online, as part of your responsibilities under Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025. Find out more in our article on online safety requirements.
