Additional needs register: template

There is no statutory requirement for you to keep an additional needs register, but it may help you to allocate resources where they are needed.

Because there are no requirements, you're free to create and manage your register in the way that best suits your school.

You can filter the spreadsheet by different values – for example, to view all boys in class 4a with behavioural issues.

This allows you to:

  • Organise interventions for specific groups
  • Identify which class teachers may need extra support

Who you should include on your additional needs register

You should add a pupil to your additional needs register if they have slightly different needs from the majority of other pupils, but don't need additional or different support to reach age-related expectations.
