Adapt our template to help you plan improvement tasks in your school.

It lists examples of school areas that may be included in the premises development plan, such as:

  • Teaching spaces
  • Halls
  • Staff and administration areas
  • Outdoor areas

The areas included are taken from the Department for Education's (DfE's) area guidelines for mainstream schools

Audit your premises to identify areas for improvement

Get an up-to-date condition survey for your school

This will help ensure the upkeep of your grounds and buildings. The survey will identify the:

  • Current state of your buildings
  • Works required to bring any buildings up to standard
  • Urgency of any necessary works

You can find building surveyors through the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Alternatively ask your local authority or trust.
