It's based on example competencies developed from the Ofsted inspection framework, and advice from our associate education experts David New and Nina Siddall-Ward. These competencies go above and beyond the minimum expectations of the Teachers’ Standards, so first check you’re meeting those with our teachers’ skills audit.

You may find that there are sections in this audit that don’t apply to the specific middle leadership role you hold. If this is the case, you can remove the sections that aren’t relevant to your role. The areas covered in the audit are:
