You must provide management time to certain teachers

Under the STPCD, a teacher with leadership or management responsibilities is, as far as is 'reasonably practicable', entitled to time for the purpose of discharging these responsibilities (see section 2 paragraph 52.6, page 51).

This time must:

  • Be a 'reasonable' amount
  • Take place during school sessions

It's referred to as 'management time'.

Any teacher who receives a teaching and learning responsibility (TLR) payment or who is paid on the leadership group pay range should be considered for management time, according to the teaching union NASUWT.
