Here's a list of possible interview questions for a mental health lead, plus tips for what to look for in answers.

The questions you choose will depend on your school’s specific context and phase, and the role you're expecting the mental health lead to play within your school.

For example, we refer to 'mental health issues' in some of the questions, but you could include specific mental health issues that are more common in your school (e.g. anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, self harm).

You'll likely be recruiting internally to select a staff member to take on this additional responsibility. However, if you are recruiting externally, add your usual introductory questions about the candidate's reasons for choosing your school.
