Meet with parents/carers before sending any negative attendance letters

Consider all your options before sending a negative letter to parents/carers about attendance or punctuality. It might be better to have an informal conversation with them, in-person or on the phone, before taking this step.

Having a conversation about a child's attendance is the best way to form a constructive, collaborative relationship with parents/carers, and is more likely to be successful than sending a letter.
