Are there examples of interview questions for a newly qualified teacher (NQT)? One of our associate experts suggests interview questions that could be used for an NQT post. We also refer to sample questions from a university and point to articles from The Key on interview questions for teachers.

Interview questions and suggested response criteria

We asked one of our associate education experts, Trevor Bailey, to suggest examples of questions that could be used when interviewing newly qualified teachers (NQTs).

Trevor stressed that the questions and responses may need to be adapted depending on the type of training that an NQT has done, and the specific nature of the responsibilities listed in the job description.

For each question, Trevor also suggests what you might want to look out for in candidates' responses:
