What to do with self-declaration information

KCSIE says you should ask shortlisted candidates to complete a self-declaration form.

The purpose of the self-declaration is to give candidates the opportunity to share relevant information and allow this to be discussed and considered before DBS checks are received

You should not:

  • Ask candidates to make a self-declaration earlier in your recruitment process – you should only request one when you shortlist the candidate
  • Request a self-declaration as a part of their application to decide whether they should progress to the next stage of the recruitment process

Candidates may declare information that they're not required
