Use the HSE checklist for standard classrooms

The HSE has a health and safety checklist for standard classrooms.

You can decide how to use the checklist in your school. For example, premises staff can use it at the start of term to provide reassurance to you and teaching staff that common areas of risk in the classroom are being adequately controlled.

It can also be used by teachers to visually check their classroom is safe and raise any issues with you. It should take about 20 minutes to fill out.

This checklist doesn’t cover specialist facilities, such as sports facilities or specialist classrooms (like science labs or design and technology facilities), but you can use our checklists below to assess these.
