Flexi-schooling is a combination of school and home education

It's not the same as:

  • Full-time home education
  • Reduced timetables (also known as part-time timetables)
  • Remote or hybrid learning provided by your school

You don't have to agree to flexi-schooling requests

If a pupil is already attending your school, you can refuse a request from parents/carers to educate them at home for some of the time.

If a pupil is already being home educated, you can refuse a request from parents/carers to register them at your school so they can attend for part of the week. 

This is explained in paragraph 10.8 of the DfE guidance on elective home education for local authorities.
