Pupils' experiences of safeguarding

Your school should:

• Have systems in place for children to express their views and give feedback about the measures in place to protect them
• Always take the child's wishes and feelings into account when determining what action to take and what services to provide in response to a safeguarding concern
• Teach pupils about safeguarding, including online safety, as part of the curriculum, e.g. through personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education and/or relationships and sex education

KCSIE sets out both legal requirements (“musts”) and expectations (“shoulds”). We’ve included expectations in this list of safeguarding requirements because, in most cases, it will be hard for your school to justify not meeting these.
